Uchimizu Water Sprinking - The Wisdom of Old Tokyo, August 28th, 2018
Uchimizu is the Japanese tradition of sprinkling water over roads, paths and gardens to keep things cool. The fierce, ongoing heat experienced recently has made us even more aware of how effective this more than 300-year-old tradition is in battling the heat. A lot of people join uchimizu using rainwater or recycled water during the sommer months, and the Imperial Hotel, Tokyo has taken part in this activity since 2011. Come around the hotel at around 5 p.m. until Friday, August 31st, get to feel this Japanese tradition for yourself, enjoying the refreshing coolness of uchimizu.
